Happy 1st birthday to this little cutie pie!   This little guy was on the go, and I mean he literally never stopped moving for more than a second.   He had just learned to walk the week before, and was totally more interested in walking and climbing than paying attention to me.  I think the one thing that worked to get his attention was to sing, “If you are happy and you know it.”  So although I, along with mom and dad, were exhausted – I just love this age!   His 2 1/2 year old big sister was ready to pose for the camera also.   Aren’t they a pair of cuties!

butter scones

November 29, 2009

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving – we sure did!  When I stop and think about everything we have, and all our wonderful friends and family – I can’t help but feel so completely blessed.   Sure, this first Thanksgiving was tough for Ellie.  She basically cried or was close to tears most of the day.  The poor thing just needed sleep, but we are so thankful have her in our family.

My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner this year was scones.  It is a recipe I got from the Ladies Christmas Tea we have at our church, and they are yummy!  My sister said, “I’ve never had scones that were this moist before!”  As you can see below, I had a little helper as I was making these.  I decided to post the recipe also – so enjoy!  :)scones

I can’t believe 2009 is already soon coming to an end.  It seems like just as I start to actually remember what year we are in, it changes!  I so greatly appreciate all my clients from this year, many of whom I’d now consider my friends!   It is so great to be able to meet so many wonderful families!

This post is just to let everyone know that I am completely booked through the end of the year.  I actually won’t be taking on any new sessions until March – with the exception of maternity/infant sessions and the occasional baby under 1 year old.    So, feel free to contact me if you would like a maternity/infant session, or you have a child under 1 year old.

To everyone else, I am very excited to jump back into on-location photography once the weather starts to warm up again!  Feel free to contact me to set up a session for this spring.   And, just to give you a heads-up, my prices will be going up starting in 2010 (It will be the first time I have ever raised my prices…it needs to be done!).  However, if you book your session before the end of this year, you will be locked into the 2009 pricing.  So, take advantage of it!  :)

And, because what’s a post without a picture…here’s my little cutie pie.  Can you believe she is 5 months already?!

Here is Miss Katie – the last lovely senior I have for this year.   Katie is a lot of fun and up for anything – climbing trees, swinging from poles, rolling in the grass, posing with large stuffed animals, and she was even contemplating walking through the stream (in November!).   It was such a lovely, mild day, and even though there weren’t too many leaves left on the trees, we found some great spots to take pictures.  Here are a few of my favorites.

I had the pleasure of meeting an 8 week old infant with the coolest name a few days ago – little Jacobi.  Don’t you love it?   :)  He was such a handsome little guy, with pretty blue eyes and a very nice mommy & daddy.   He did a fantastic job, although he wasn’t too impressed with my hats. When I put a hat on him while awake, his squirms and wiggles went into overdrive until I took it off.   Oh well – I guess everyone can’t be a hat fan. :)  Here’s a few pictures of the adorable Mr. J.

And, here is Mr. Cutie Pie at the end of our session, telling me he’s had enough of the paparazzi stuff.  :)

Meet Miss Olivia – 8 weeks old and such a little doll.  She did fantastic at her first photo shoot!  However, this little girl probably ran about 3 miles during our session.  She was cracking me up!  Her chubby little arms and legs never stopped moving!  I’m torn – she’s cute enough to be a model, but she might be destined to be a runner! :)  Thanks D & A for letting me have fun with your little cutie pie!

I had the pleasure of photographing two families a few days ago – each with all boys.   I always take time before a session to brainstorm ideas for pictures, and think through the ages of the kids and what I can do to make their session fun and a reflection of who their family is.    And, I hope we accomplished that.  Our session involved a lot of wrestling, headlocks, tickling, jumping, throwing, piggy back rides…you know – typical boy stuff!

This first family I have known a looong time – at least back to when I was in junior high!  And all these years they have remained such a fun family.  This picture below is one of my favorites of them.  Teenage boys are typically not too excited about family photo sessions…they aren’t into hugging  or showing affection, especially in front of a camera.  But, tell them to do a group hug, give a headlock, or tackle someone and they’ll usually give you a good picture!

This next family had boys that were younger, but were just as eager to tackle, jump and avoid posing for the camera.  :)
