Growing up * Lancaster Baby Photographer

As the cold weather hits us, the pictures of this adorable little guy make me dream of warm, sunny weather again!

I just love watching this little guy grow.  He’s such a happy boy, who is finally growing in to his full head of hair!  You can see pictures below of little Aiden at 1 week old, and at 3 months old.

What a pleasure it was to finally meet this sweet little girl!  She joins older brother Brayton, who has struggled most of his life with a life threatening illness.  Now, he is finally healthy, and his family is rejoicing at how wonderful it feels to have two healthy children.  That type of  “normal” is so easy to take for granted.   I know I do.  Her story reminds me how thankful I need to be for my healthy children.

beautiful mama, beautiful baby * Lancaster Newborn Photographer

There are many beautiful things in this world.    But, pregnant mamas and newborn babies are right up there on the top of my list.    I just love to see the glow of a mother as she anticipates meeting this miracle that has been growing in her for so long.   What will he look like?  What will he be like?   9 months is a long time to have to wait and dream about those answers.  And, then one day, this baby is placed in her arms.  This perfect, tiny, wrinkled little baby has joined a family that has waited for him for so long.    I don’t think there is anything more amazing than seeing a brand new life enter this world.

And, for those of you who don’t know already, this seemed like the perfect post to announce my own good news.  We are expecting baby #4 in April!  :)   Our kids are so excited, and are already declaring whether they want a girl or a boy. :)  So, just an FYI, I’m planning on taking a maternity leave for 3-4 months (approx middle of February-middle of June).

Family Photography * Lancaster Portrait Photographer

It was such a pleasure to photograph this family!   This might be my longest blog post ever – there were so many pictures that I loved!  They are beautiful, fun, and have so much love for each other.  The hugs, kisses, and laughter came so naturally.    But, this family is also special because mom is a photographer.  As a photographer myself,  I know how hard it is to get good pictures with my family (that I am in!).    As photographers, we see so many moms who are reluctant to be in pictures with their kids. (And, I have to admit that I am like this too).  But, this is so backwards!  Often, the only memories a child has of their early childhood are triggered by tangible memories, like photos.  Our kids aren’t going to look back later in life and comment on the way we looked.  They are going to remember the laughter, love and time we spent with them.

So, I was thrilled when this opportunity came up, and we were able to exchanged services and photograph each others families.   This time in life goes so quickly.  I’m so glad I was able to capture it for this family!  Oh, and if you want to see a sneak peek of the pictures she took of my family – here’s the link.

This little baby boy was about as sweet as can be.  He has such beautiful eyes, and gave me some great eye contact.   I enjoyed every minute of my time snuggling and holding him!
